The challenge
Toastie had the food, the regulars and a steady Instagram — but nowhere for a new customer to land. The menu lived in photos of the board, opening hours were buried in old posts, and anyone wanting a platter or a cake for the weekend had to message and hope. On Google, the café had a listing and nothing behind it.
The approach
A café website has three jobs: show the food, answer “are you open?”, and make ordering easy. Every page was built around those, in Toastie’s own warm, hand-made look — their photos, their shopfront, their colours — rather than a template with the name swapped in.
What I built
- Five pages — Home, Menu, Grab & Go, Cakes & Orders and Visit Us — so each part of the business can be found on its own.
- The full menu with prices, split into toasties, pizza subs, hot food, coffee and treats, written as real text Google can read.
- A live open-now badge that checks the time and tells visitors whether the doors are open and until when.
- An order-request form for platters, whole cakes and festive bakes, so orders arrive written down instead of scattered across DMs.
- Their Apple Pay video and loyalty card on the home page — buy nine coffees, get the tenth free.
- Call, directions and menu buttons pinned to the bottom of every phone screen.
- Local SEO from day one — café structured data with address and hours, a sitemap, and the site submitted to Google Search Console.
The result
Toastie now has a proper home online: one link that shows the whole menu, answers the opening-hours question before anyone has to ask, and turns “can I order a cake?” into a form that takes a minute. Built on the €299 Full Site plan, with no monthly fees.
